By the Numbers
Eskimo Cold Storage, which handles a variety of frozen foods with the ability to blast freeze products and have them ready for shipment the next day, selected Carroll Daniel to design and build a new 225,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art freezer in Gainesville, Georgia.
225,000 SF Freezer Addition
96,000 SF Shuttle Rack
78,000 SF Push Back Rack
A State-of-the-Art Freezer Facility
This 225,000 SF freezer addition will increase Eskimo Cold Storage’s capacity and potential for business for decades to come. Carroll Daniel self-performed concrete and steel on this project and developed the new freezer to accommodate the company’s growing cold chain needs. The freezer stands at 66 feet tall and includes a two-part freezer system consisting of a 78,000 SF Push Back Rack (Freezer A) and a 96,000 SF Shuttle Rack (Freezer B) – a semi-automated system with the entire facility held at zero degrees.
Partners for Growth
Founders of Eskimo Cold Storage, Steve Williams, President, and Karen Reece, Vice President, have been business partners for over 35 years, opening the first Eskimo cold warehouse in 2007. The new stand-alone freezer is situated adjacent to Eskimo’s existing 250,000 SF freezer. The expansion will allow Eskimo to continue to provide 24/7 availability to its clients. Eskimo Cold Storage will play a critical role in the continued growth and success of logistics, supply chain and storage in our region, and Carroll Daniel Construction is grateful to be the design-builder of this project and to play a small role in Eskimo’s great growth story.
