Partnering with the Port
Carroll Daniel was awarded Georgia Ports Authority’s Blue Ridge Connector project, which will create a positive economic impact in the NEGA region by connecting direct rail terminal links from the Port of Savannah, reducing congestion on Georgia highways by eliminating the 600-mile roundtrip drive to and from the coast, and offsetting emissions by 75 percent.
Project Overview
The project consisted of the demolition and replacement of existing buildings, including extensive sitework and the utilization of roller-compacted concrete. Carroll Daniel excavated and removed rock and earthen material and performed landscaping, grading and drainage, and road paving.
The project team also installed a new RTG crane runway, wheel stops, stop bars, barriers, sidewalks, signage, lighting, fencing, gates, welded rails, steel ties, and more. Carroll Daniel also handled all HVAC, electrical, plumbing, masonry, and electronic safety and security services.
Working Around Operations
The project team ensured that traffic continued on the roadways and rail operations continuously ran during construction. The team worked closely with the engineer to perform complete utility location services before performing any excavations.
