First U.S. Location for French Firm
French-based DRT selected the Savannah, Georgia area to locate its first United States processing plant. This grassroots facility, located on 60-acres, is capable of processing 25,000 metric tons per year of crude sulfate turpentine into alphapinene, beta-pinen, dipentene, desulfurized alpha pinene and myrcene. This is achieved through a series of distillation separation systems. Raw materials arrive in bulk by train and finished product is shipped in bulk by iso-tanks or in drums in its containers.
Project Scope
Carroll Daniel Engineering’s engagement included a Phase One study (FEL 3) consisting of a feasibility study to provide DRT with preliminary design documents, a funding cost estimate for engineering, procurement, construction (EPC), and start-up/commissioning services, and regulatory assessment to determine the permitting requirements for the facility.
Carroll Daniel Engineering, formerly O’Neal Inc., then provided EPC delivery of the project, reaching completion in twelve months.
