CANTON, GA. – Carroll Daniel Construction joined Cherokee County School District (CCSD) and MSSA-PBK for a topping out ceremony at the site of the new Cherokee High School. The event allowed school officials and project team members the opportunity to sign the building’s final steel beam, celebrating the hardworking individuals who helped achieve this milestone.
Sharing remarks at the ceremony were Carroll Daniel President and CEO Brian Daniel and Senior Project Manager Cody Ledford, project architect Kenneth Moore from MSSA-PBK, CCSD Superintendent Mary Elizabeth Davis, CCSD students, Cherokee High School Principal Andy Hall, School Board Chair Kyla Cromer, School Board member Susan Padgett-Harrison — who also is a past principal of Cherokee High — and CCSD Chief Support Services Officer Trey Moores.
“Today, we celebrate Cherokee High School’s legacy and our dedication to building for our future and the continued success of our students with the construction of this new campus,” Superintendent Davis said. “We are truly elevating the excellence as we lift this beam to top off our newest and largest high school. I’m so thankful for our community’s support to build a new home for our amazing Cherokee High School teachers and students for generations to come.”
Following the ceremony, attendees enjoyed breakfast together and applauded the dedicated men and women working to bring this project to life. Cody Ledford remarked, “The topping out ceremony is a chance for us to come together with the school board and subcontractors to celebrate the hard work going into this incredible project.”
The new school is comprised of five main buildings that sit on an 88-acre campus, designed to accommodate a total enrollment of 3,000 9th-12th grade students. The campus includes 152 classrooms, a 1,000-seat auditorium, an artificial turf football stadium with 4,500 seats, baseball, softball, and practice fields, and tennis courts.
