ALPHARETTA, GA. – The new Midway Elementary School is ready for the 2024-2025 school year, welcoming hundreds of community members to the grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony. Carroll Daniel Construction joined Forsyth County Schools (FCS), architectural firm Lindsay Pope Brayfield & Associates, Midway Elementary School leaders, County Commissioners Todd Levent, Alfred John and Cindy J. Mills, and State Rep. Carter Barrett to celebrate the completion of the new school.
FCS Superintendent Mitch Young kicked off the ceremony in the auditorium, followed by remarks from State Rep. Barrett, Board of Education Chair Darla Light, Midway Elementary School Principal Daphne Rogers, and Carroll Daniel Construction Project Executive Mike Sims.
Principal Daphne Rogers shared, “It’s an extraordinary experience to have the privilege to open a new building, and even more, it’s been truly unique to move an existing school into a new facility.”
“It means a lot,” Mike Sims said. “We are honored that the county trusts us to come in and build projects like this and build so many in the county. It means a lot that the community believes in us.”
Following the ceremony, families and community members took self-guided tours of the school, exploring open classrooms, the media center and cafeteria, the STEM innovation station, multi-purpose rooms, and more.
Carroll Daniel Construction built the original Midway Elementary School in the 1960s, and the new approximately 140,000 SF replacement school will serve more than 1,200 students and support the growth in Forsyth County, providing students with an updated learning environment. The school features modern details with large windows for natural lighting in the media center, lobby, and classrooms. The Mustang colors of blue and yellow can be found throughout the school as well. The layout of the new school mimics Poole’s Mill Elementary School, another FCS facility that Carroll Daniel Construction built a few years ago.
